On this super cold (-15) degree start to the morning, I'm reminded of a warmer time when the apples were perfectly ripe, and we made it a family affair to collect them. We are members of the
Flying X Ranch in Wheatland, WY, and go there most of the summer for some of the funnest times we have as a family. There are several apple tree on the huge acreage, and this year we all went to do some pickin'.
I got the short end of this stick, but my daughter had a blast!
We used anything we could to get all the good ones, 4-Wheeler included.
Good perk is getting to eat some of the prize!
I did get to have some fun too, and pick a few too high for the smaller people!
Quite the haul! Great Day!
This load of apples made at least 3 batches of apple chips, which didn't last but 1-2 days, and 30+ jars of apple butter!
Do have some plum jam in the background too, plus some tomatillo salsa, both great recipes!
I will soon share the best apple butter recipe ever.
Stay warm
