We were recently inspired by Arhaus to showcase a design of our outdoor space, so we did just that, and transformed our front porch into a relaxing end of the day place to enjoy.
We had a blank slate to start with, but we had a few pieces to salvage around the house that we knew we wanted to use for this design, but first we started with the anchor to our space, and that is this beautiful and simple outdoor rug, and next up we purchased these rockers at our local hardware store on sale for the end of the outdoor season.
This cool old milk jug was the first of our salvage pieces. It was totally rusted, so with a little paint and some elbow grease we transformed it to make it the base of our small table between the chairs.
Next we need to make a top for our milk jug table which we did by using some old 1x4's and a 1x1's from our old box spring mattress (talk about the gift that keeps on giving). We painted the table top the color of the jug, and the 1x1's black to pick up the dark color in the rug and pull the space together.
We have a tradition of cutting down a Christmas tree every year, and I save the trunks for decorations around the house. We cut these to size and drilled a 1 1/2" hole in the top about 1" deep to hold our candles for perfect ambiance in the evening.
We also added a "Welcome" sign made from a couple of fence pickets and added some twig twine to rustic it up a bit.
To hold up our corn stocks from the garden, we purchased inexpensive metal buckets, painted them white, and concreted these 4x4 posts in the bucket. Perfect for height on the porch, and a bonus is we can use them for all of our seasonal decorations to spruce up the porch and welcome you into the house.
Finally we started harvesting our pumpkins and gourds from the garden to finish off the fall decor. Thanks to Arhaus for being the inspiration, and giving us the push we needed to make this front porch the inviting space we knew it could be! Be sure to check out their products, like their rugs for any season.
Beautiful porch!!! Now I need to tackle my own. Thanks, as always, for the fabulous ideas!!!!
