Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend over this Memorial Day holiday. We finally opened up the Wyoming house this past weekend, and I thought you'd like to see how all the new rustic decorations turned out.

Salvaged 2 x 12's Turned to Custom Shelving Unit
Thursday, May 26, 2016
We are feverishly putting in all the plants and seedlings for our vegetable garden, so much work in fact that we have gotten a little behind on all of our other responsibilities, however we managed to make a much needed shelving unit for our music room this week all out of salvaged 2 x 12's. We had no real organization for all of our piano music, most of the time it would just end up scattered on the floor and stepped on etc, definitely not the ideal situation, so we built and distressed our unit using old 2 x 12's to help us store and organize our music.

This custom built to order shelf unit was easy to construct, and the distressed painting technique we used was even easier.

Salvaging the Salvage Project
Thursday, May 19, 2016
There are many different ways to get an image you desire onto wood, whether it be old pallet wood or brand new wood you just purchased from the hardware store, however the new way I tried this week needs some work to perfect, but I had to salvage my project.

These are my new addition to the tops of my kitchen cabinets, you know that one foot space above your cabinets that sometimes we don't know what to do with. Here's the perfect addition to that space.
Garden Is Growing, and We Need a Place to Work
Thursday, May 12, 2016
The big vegetable garden is growing by leaps and bounds everyday. We've added quite a lot more seeds and plants, and are in the process of adding a couple of fruit trees, but we needed a place to work. So create one we did!

With a bunch of left over wood from the building of the chicken coup, we were able to make this custom work bench at no cost!!

Rustic Decor Additions for Wyoming

If you have followed my blog for any time you know that our family has a place in windy Wyoming. It's been in the family for many years, and the Flying X Ranch holds a dear place in my heart. We have had our place up there for about seven or eight years now, and quite frankly it needed some rustic decor to spruce up the place. I've had these ideas for a year or two, but up until now I've not done anything about it. We are ready to start heading back up there again this summer, and I thought it was time to add some decor to make it feel like a home away from home.

Etched Glassware for a Perfect Port Party
Monday, May 2, 2016
Last summer a group of us girls went over the western slope of Colorado in Palisade where they are known for their wineries. We went to vineyard after vineyard, toured wineries, and enjoyed of coarse some wine tasting. After a fun filled weekend, we headed home with our wine and port, and promised ourselves we would get together for port party, and we finally did this past weekend. I thought it would be fun for everyone to take home their own party favor which was an etched port wine glass.
