A long, and I do mean a long time ago, we started working on my sons new move to the basement with a cool new paint job for his room. We of coarse still have more to add to finish up his room, but this new sign we made from a old salvaged box spring mattress is perfect.
We started out by using our blow torch to distress the surface with a little bit of heat. I love how this technique pulls out the wood grain.
Next we add a light layer of walnut stain, too much and it gets too dark for what we were looking for, so go light for sure.
We go inside the craft studio to size and scale the letters on our silhouette cameo
We adhere them to the wood using simple double-sided tape to keep them in place for painting.
Sky's the limit on the color you choose for this cool sign. We chose white to go with the snow capped peaks on the mountains.
