I'm so ready to be outside, who's with me! School's almost done, and it's time to get out working in the yard, and when you're done for the day there is nothing better than filling a glass of iced tea (or red wine) and sitting on the porch, but first it has to be ready for the season.
We did an overhaul on our front porch last fall by adding these rockers, the outdoor rug, and redoing the old rusty milk jug to make a perfect table. All these goodies went away for the winter and we did up the porch for Christmas and the winter season, well now it's spring time thank goodness and it needed some spring and summer decor.
I first started out with some plain old wooden birdhouses from the craft store that with a little bit of love and creativity will become the corner stone of our porch design.
Each birdhouse got a different stain color
and then a few got some extra bling with old seashells, beads from my daughter's room, plain old paint, and some moss.
We have the 4x4 posts in these metal buckets that we used to hold our corn stalks in the fall and the Christmas and pine trees for the winter, but now they need some spring decorations. I didn't want to attach the birdhouses directly to the posts as it would make changing the decor for the seasons very difficult, so I went to the local hardware store and purchased 1x6 fence pickets and constructed a box to fit around the post for easy removal.
Finally the newly painted plastic pots get some plants and flowers, and it's time to go porch sitting.

Iced tea anyone?
