Florida Room Inspiration

As we start to move indoors for the winter in Colorado, we were inspired by the idea of a Florida room from Douglas Elliman Real Estate.  We wanted to create a few beach inspired decor ideas that in the dead of winter you could enjoy the next closest thing to sun and surf!  Come check us out on Pinterest, and view some of our ideas for the coziest Florida room ever.

Our first inspiration actually came from a bumper sticker driving around, crazy right, but inspiration comes from anywhere.  The bumper sticker said "Just Beachy", and the idea was born.  It's no secret that we love all things wood here, from pallet wood signs to creative storage uses, we love to use old wood or new wood it doesn't matter, so we decided to create a sign using driftwood instead instead of our typical barn wood.
Didn't it turn out cool, and totally fits our MO!

Another idea we had was to create storage in our dream Florida room, so we decided that metal would add a cool feeling while adding storage for beach towels etc.

Thanks to Northern Cottage Blog for giving us the inspiration for using this salvaged wash tub for storage towel ideas.  Visit Northern Cottage for more storage ideas.

Color is another way to add that coastal feel.  We love dark colors here at the Discover Your Home Blog, we do know the lighter greens and blues give that coastal feel however, we decided to change it up a bit and choose some darker colors for our invented dream space.  The Jetsam color will be used to paint some of furniture pieces,

like this bookcase which is the perfect addition to hold books for reading by the ocean or in your Florida inspired space, and the colors are spot on.  Thanks to Confessions of a Serial DIYer for giving us the inspiration for the colors and salvage of an old bookcase.

We love to use this spray paint made for just for glass.  We've used it to make decorative storage jars to keep our work studio organized.  Click Here for a quick how to.  Thanks to Sadie's Seasongoods for the use of all sorts of different bottles to make this coastal decor piece.

Last but certainly not least is the fabric which ties all our coastal elements together.

This Jaclyn Smith linen fabric is the perfect Florida inspired fabric.

Thanks to Douglas Elliman for giving us the opportunity and inspiration to create some ideas for a Florida room for you.  With this coastal inspired decor we can bring on winter because the beach is always just a step away.
