My daughter and I have small love affair with Paris, okay it's more like an obsession really. So to remind us of said love affair, we decided to decorate her room Paris themed. We started out with rehabbing an old night stand.
It turned out perfect, and is a great addition to her room to add some book storage as well as a place for her reading light and clock.
Here's how the original night stand looked before we got started, now time for the upgrade.
We started by painting the inside pink, along with her love affair of Paris comes the love affair with the color pink. She is all things pink!
The outside of the unit then gets a layer of white. We are distressing it so we beat our paint into our brush, and applied the white. To check out the technique click here! Once dry, we give it a good sanding to remove some of the white, and give it the distressed look we were going for.
Next up we need to add the Eiffel Tower to the front of our piece. Using a graphite stick we color the back of our drawing, then place the drawing where we want on the door, and start tracing. Once finished we are left with a perfect outline.
Do a little bit of hand painting
and you're left with a beautiful image of the Eiffel Tower.
We added a little bit of pink bling for the knob, and painted the hinges black.
Now all we need to do is add her books, and she has a functional and beautiful piece that compliments her room as well as her love for Paris and pink.
We also have an update on our last rehab project.
We have hardware. This was a very custom piece to specifically fit the room colors and all, so it seems only fitting that the hardware would be no less custom.
