Favorite Bathroom designs

Just a few of my favorite bathroom designs...

My favorite bathroom we did.  Love the vessel sinks with the tile "rug" inlay that works to enhance the shower as well.  Subway tile in the shower with a marble top and porcelain tiles on the floor.

My favorite granite is this dull  leathered look, with travertine in the shower and on the floor.

My first bathroom, like the big sinks with the extra storage

Have an identical bath that used the same concept with yellow as the color.

National Western Stock Show

For years I've wanted to go to the National Western Stock Show.  I remember this activity as a kid, we didn't go every year, but went and saw the rodeo a few times.  I've let it pass me by for about 3 to 4 years, and this year was going to be different!  Kids were off of school, and I took them in the afternoon for the festivities and in the evening my husband joined us for dinner and the rodeo.  My kids got their cowboy on!
 My cowboy and cowgirl

Petting "farm" is always a hit.

Touring the grounds

Sheep shearing, they needed blankets to keep them warm!

Roping
Great night at the rodeo!  This was definitely a great family night, with fun for all of us.

Easy Designs

A few quick and easy ideas to decorate any space
Had tons of old pictures that I wanted to display.  Found this old window frame, put all the old pictures in frames, and wallah you have art work.

This old door knob came from my father's boyhood home.  Used gorilla glue to connect the door knob to the plate and hung this birch wreath.

Found this piece at an antique store reasonably priced, and makes a perfect hanging in my half bath.

Old books I couldn't get rid of from my grandmother's house.  They go perfect with this clock, and sit in my office on top of the wall shelving.

Old picture frame I found, add another old doorknob, and some sewing accents.  They go great in my craft room.

I like the window frames!!  Added chicken wire to the back, painted behind them to make them stand out.  Added some of the kids best artwork, and a few inspirational pieces.

Easy wall piece.  Hanging vase with glass marbles on the bottom and topped off with a fern.

Added this wire/bead garland to this wreath for extra bling!

Easy creations!

Window Project

My husband and I have done a few rebuilds in Denver within the past few years.  So we go in, buy an old house in the city, tear it down, and build a brand new structure in it's place.  The best thing is searching through these old houses before it gets torn down for treasures, and I have found a few!  One of my favorite finds was three old storm windows that were used in the winter to double up the original old windows in the house, and keep the heat in.  I've had them sitting in my basement for a year or two waiting for the perfect inspiration.  I found it.  I have seen silhouettes on Pinterest, and that got me thinking of the perfect idea for one window.  I wanted to paint a tree silhouette on one of these windows.

Final product!  I added the piece of furniture to finish it off and balance out the space!  I keep my piano music and kids' music there which needed a home, so it worked out great!

Here's How...

Taped poster board on the window with painters tape, and started drawing until I liked what I saw, as you can see I erased more than once.  Cut out the finished tree drawings, and taped it back down with double sided tape.

Painted it with permanent acrylic black paint and a paint brush.  Waited for it to dry, and took off the poster board stencil.

When I took off the stencil it still needed a little touching up.  I used an crafting knife, and scraped off the paint where I didn't like it, and then added some more details by hand with a paint brush.

Finished look!

Change for 2014

I've started already with a few of my New Year's resolutions, my easiest one is to not use plastic bags anymore.  I still haven't come up with a solution that eliminates the bags for fruits and veggies, and as soon as I do I'll share, but I want to make sure that I don't use any plastic bags to bring my goods home with me, and not just from the grocery store, but every store I go to.

I have 12 races (at least a 5K) that I plan on doing again this year.  Last year I hit 10 races, and while I feel successful with this, I'm striving for 12.  The Polar Bear 5K is the first one I want to run this year, and at least one for every month of the year.

My mother has also challenged me to start meditating.  She has suggested that I meditate 1 minute everyday in the month of January, 2 minutes in the month of February, and so on.  When you finish the year, you are meditating 12 minutes everyday.  While those who truly meditate do it for at least 20 minutes and longer, I feel like this is a great start to get me into the habit of calming my mind, which tends to run wild.

The last resolution that I want to accomplish and soon, is a whole body cleanse.  I don't want to do the ones from a box that you can buy at any drugstore, but I'm on the search for one that uses whole foods to cleanse the body, like brown rice and most veggies.  I also have a plan to not drink any alcohol for entire month.  I feel like if I can do this, then I don't have a larger problem on my hands!  :)  I'm still in search of one that fits what I'm looking for, and as soon as I find it I will share.

I feel like these are attainable goals that I can do to produce a few of the changes that I'm seeking for this year!

Happy New Year

Happy 2014!  I'm ready for this year to start, big plans, big plans.  But we also finished up 2013 with a whirlwind trip.  On a whim we went on a family trip to San Diego, CA.  My husband was off for the week, and sitting at home wasn't a good option.  So we left for a quick road trip, and decided the warmer beaches of San Diego were better suited for us cold Colorado folk.  The first leg of our trip brought us to Las Vegas, NV.  We got in relatively late, but did walk the strip the following morning.  There are definitely things that the kids should not see, but we managed to stop at a place that was just for them, the M&M store.

After the kids each purchased an item, we were on our way to CA.  The beach was great for us colder folks, but the ocean was a little too chilly for the adults.  Didn't stop the kids from getting in!

We also had to take in a location attraction, and we chose Sea World.  Took in the shows and the entertainment all day with gorgeous weather.

We left the following day, and took a different route home, one that took us close to the US/Mexico border, and up to Albuquerque, NM where we spent the night on New Year's Eve.  Didn't make it to midnight, but that's OK!  By the time we got home, we just hit a small snow storm that finished off our trip, from the beach to the snow!

We ended 2013 with a bang, and now I'm ready for 2014.  Resolution time.  While I make New Year's resolutions every year, I did manage to keep one last year.  My goal was to run at least one race every month.  I managed to get in 10 last year, so now that I'm feeling successful, I'm going to do it again.  This time I'll hit 12 for sure.  Now it's time to start searching for Colorado races in 2014.  The good thing is there are so many, even if I get down to the wire, I can still find one!  I will have more resolutions to come!

Happy New Year
