We are desperately seeking some organization! No seriously there is stuff laying around everywhere in the craft studio. While I suppose this means the creative juices are flowing, the overwhelmed feeling by the amount of little items that are scattered all over the place is really getting to us. We need to create a system for harmony, so over the next couple of blog posts we are creating much needed organization for our craft/artisan studio. We started this week with trying to keep all of the little things in order, but we must first go on a hunt around the house to see what we have laying around that we can salvage because let be honest all of the organizing tools you can buy at the store really add up fast. I'd rather spend my money on crafty items not organization tools.
I love to bring the outdoors inside, and we were in luck when we found this old leftover piece of
4 x 6 wood used to make some of our raised garden beds outside. With a bit of ingenuity we used it to organize our paint brushes and scissors.
Working with our sawzall power tool, we cut it to our desired length.
Once cut it's to the sander we go to smooth out the rough edges; then working with the drill outfitted with a 1 1/2" and 3/4" paddle bit we generate our holes to hold our accessories.
We drill to our desired depth, in this case it's between 3- 4 inches, to hold our scissors and paint brushes.
Next up we need to group together our pens, pencils, etc. so we can find what we want when we want it, and used old cans tailored to match our color scheme.
Using some spray paint, cardstock, and a little imagination, we made these one of kind cool personalized holders for pens and pencils.
We chose a blue and green to match our studio décor, and start by spray painting our cleaned cans.
To make the labels we went to our silhouette, printed and cut the labels, added them to the cardstock and attached them to our cans using hot glue.
Finally we used spray paint along with the silhouette again to make these glass jars fabulous.
Going to the local craft store, I purchased these inexpensive glass containers, but you can use cleaned out candle containers, mason jars, etc.
Added the stencil we created
And used spray paint meant for glass to create containers specific to our needs.
We've got a good start on our organization for our artisan studio. Looking forward to showing you a few more tricks up our sleeve for simple easy organizing!
Sweet container idea! Love them all
