How Many Years Have We Been Doing This Project?

I'm embarrassed to say how long it's taken to put this half bath project together, I was blogging about it in 2015.  All the components were there from salvaged items to fabric for the valence over the window, it was just that last little piece of the puzzle that we couldn't seem to get finished.  Well I'm excited to announce that it's done, our builder boring half bath is now a totally customized and unique space that fits our house perfectly.

This was the last piece of the bathroom puzzle, the vanity.  We had a pedestal sink here for years and while it functioned fine it was most certainly boring!

See nothing too exciting just a standard run of the mill half bath with the builder grade oval mirror and all.

We had all the components like the fabric for the window valence, towel and toilet tissue storage in the wire basket, a salvaged old mirror to replace the oval one, and the refinished dresser about to become vanity.  The only thing left was the vanity top, the sink, and faucet.  I'm pretty sure the expense on these items that were left was part of the hold up for so long.

Here's the original dresser that we salvaged out of an old house we remodeled.  It was once painted a light gray color, but thanks to some stripper and a little elbow grease we got down to the natural wood and stained it, you guessed it, dark walnut my favorite color.

We cut off the bottom draw to give us the desired height we needed with our vessel sink on top, but don't worry we used that in a project too!
The one hiccup I couldn't decide on was the top.  I really wanted a marble top, but couldn't find a remnant that I really fell in love with, so the project sat.  I decided to finish the original wood top of the dresser and use a heavy coat of polyurethane to protect it from the minimal amount of water it would see.  With that decided it was on to the sink and faucet, and again the project sat.  It just wasn't a priority at the time.
Well with Christmas on the way in 2017, we got the push to finish this project once and for all, and just in time for company and I do mean just!

The old broken chair was the perfect towel bar for this bathroom, that project got completed in 2016.  Click here to see how we did it.

Well I guess no matter how long it takes at least the project got finished!  Don't give up, you'll get that old project done eventually right!
