Back from Vacation and Ready to Salvage and Create

What a month of June!  We left at the beginning of the month for Mexico, we were back for about a week, and then left for Florida.  We spent a few days enjoying the beach and more sunshine in Florida before heading back to Colorado on the road trip of a lifetime.  Thought I'd share some of our trip, and some of the goodies we picked up along the way.

Nothing says welcome to Mexico like drinking right out of the coconut.  We went down to Cancun, Mexico with my whole family to relax and play in the water.

We spent a morning walking up and down the beach looking for shells.  We salvaged a bag of sea shells to use in our family tree wall that we'll be creating this summer.

We also managed to take in a snorkeling tour in a fresh water cenote (sink hole) with a little bit of cliff jumping and zip lining into the sink hole plus we got to snorkel in a cave.  Best experience!

Back to the US we came, spent a week at home then jetted off to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to take in even more sun and ocean.  We spent a few days, and then off we were on our long road trip to Colorado with a couple of cool stops along the way.

Our first stop was New Orleans, LA.  We took in a river boat tour and walked all over the shops and sites in the French Quarter.  Jackson's Square is probably my most favorite place, it just oozes history and character, probably my two favorite things.

No stop to New Orleans would be complete without a beignets from Cafe Du Monde which was established in 1862 in the original New Orleans French Market.  Picked up some perfect souvenirs which we will add to the kitchen decor.

A wooden beignets sign, metal Tabasco sign, and some food all came home with us, and will adorn our kitchen with decor and smells, plus we got this little metal jazz piece to add to our music room.

Next we make a stop in Nashville for my first ever visit to the city and of coarse the Grand Ole Opry.  We decided to take a tour of the Opry which included a backstage tour, and...

a picture in the circle which is from the stage of the Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943-1974.

After our Nashville stop, we did a B-line drive for home.  Made it back to Colorado just in time to rest for a day or two and then head for our traditional 4th of July stop at the Flying X Ranch and a fireworks show in Wheatland, WY.

This is simply the best fireworks display ever in our opinion!  We are now ready to start our creative juices flowing again with all things salvage and rustic, first stop the laundry room!  See you next week with our easy laundry room decor ideas.
