Repurposed Mirror to Wall Artwork

We are officially nearing my very favorite holiday, Thanksgiving!  It's a foodie's dream day right?  Well as we move into focusing on the dining room and kitchen in preparation for Thanksgiving, we needed some artwork on the wall in our dining room to spruce it up a bit, and we had just the piece.

We got some pinperation for this remake of an old dresser mirror.

Here is the pin that inspired our design, and here's how we made it come to life.

This mirror piece is to a dresser that I have been moving around for over 15 years now.  I purchased the dresser at my grandmother's estate sale, and have used the dresser in my house, but not the mirror.  As you see it's kinda taken a beating over the years, so it needed a little love.

After a good sanding, we bring it inside for paint.

We started by painting the whole piece with a flat black.

Next up is the almond white

And next we sand again!

I love the distressed look.  You get a little original wood, some original stain color, black and the white on top.  Instant texture and aging!

We then have to tackle that mirror.  Some painters tape and paper to protect our new paint job, then we used black spray paint to cover the mirror.  Letting it dry before we put our stencil on was so hard, just saying.

Silhouette to the rescue.  When you don't have 12X12 paper, one must improvise!

We traced the stencil on the mirror, and hand-painted the "Give Thanks" quote on our board.

All that's left is to hang it all on the wall!

We have a few more little embellishments to add to the wall before we give you the reveal!  Stay tuned, so excited for Thanksgiving!!
